Can you make water go up into a glass?

Place some water in a saucer, and ask a friend if he can make the water go up into the glass without touching the saucer. When he says it's impossible, show him how it can be done.

Push the paper into the inverted glass, and light the paper with the match. Wait a few seconds.
Then place the glass in which the paper is burning in the saucer of water. The fire will use up the oxygen in the glass and the water will be drawn up in its place. (A few drops of coloring were added to the water shown here for photographic purposes.)

Materials: A saucer with a small amount of water in it, a glass, a match, a small piece of paper, and a pencil.
